Both Hands (not “the Hand”) made us Human

_Both hands created the humanityI remember well when I read the small and unfinished article by Frederic Engels of 1876, “The role of work in the process of transforming the monkey into a man“. I was surprised that he always referred to “the hand“; that is, to the right hand. I knew the importance that the sculptor Oteiza gave to the left hand, in what he called the “basque style“. Over time, I realized that with the left hand it happened as with women: it was as if they did not exist. For everything important and decisive, he counted only the man with his right hand. Now, that woman’s vision is beginning to change; and it is also time to uncover the functions of the left hand. That is why I have written this essay, which is now publish in English.
